Kumeu Scarecrow Festival 2010
This annual event is great fun for all the family - let your creative juices flow and enter into the 2010 Kumeu Scarecrow Festival!
29th March - 17th April 2010
Over 100 scarecrows are expected to take up residence around Kumeu Wine Country in March/April 2010, when the three week celebration of art, wine and entertainment returns for the fourth Kumeu Scarecrow festival.
From Monday 29th March, the mayhem and excitement builds as scores of scarecrows proudly take their place on the festival trail, running along state highway 16 and through the participating vineyards and businesses. Everyone is encouraged to let their creative juices flow and be involved in this exciting festival by entering a scarecrow into one of the four categories Schools/Pre-schools, Family, Adults and Business categories.

- the Kumeu Visitor Information Centre, 49 Main Road Kumeu (open 7 days 9am-5pm)
- Kumeu Arts Centre, behind the Library in Huapai
- Kumeu Library, 298 Main Road, Huapai (open M,T,W,F 9 -5pm, Thur 9-8pm, Sat 9-1pm)
- participating host sites - Bees on Line, Hallertau Brew Bar & Restaurant, Kumeu Visitor Information Centre, Kumeu Garden Centre, Matua Valley Wines, Nobilo Winery, Soljans Estate Winery & Cafe, Waimauku Village, West Brook Winery
Entry fees are: Schools/Pre-schools $10, Family $20, Adults $20 and Businesses $30.
The hard task of picking the winners will take place during the fortnight from 29th March, with the prizes being awarded by Mayor Penny Webster at the Prize Giving at Kumeu Art Centre on Sunday 18th April 2pm-4pm. Free sausage sizzle and $100’s of spot prizes to be won.
